Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! May your Christmas be filled with laughter, love, and lovely memories. Christmas is one of my favorite times of year so I'll be spending it alongside my family watching basketball, baking and decorating cookies, and continuing family traditions. Love you all!

Happy First Day of Winter: Holiday Look #1

Top: Ann Taylor Skirt: Loft Shoes: Zara (Similar here and here) Earrings: BaubleBar
Today's the first day of Winter and in Miami it doesn't make a difference because the weather is back to being in the 70s. I am jealous of the people who live in cities that notice the change of Fall to Winter. The only thing that let's us know that the seasons have changed from Fall to Winter is that the holiday parties begin to take place. I love the holidays because not only is it a happy time, but it gives us women the excuse to wear sequins, glitter, gold or silver without feeling too overdressed.

When Loft first came out with this skirt I didn't think twice when purchasing it because it would have been a perfect outfit for our family Christmas party. Since the skirt is already a gold color, I decided to pair it with nude and off-white to not draw more attention to my outfit and I kept my accessories to a minimum. You don't want to look like a disco ball at the party you're attending.

Surviving Fall in Miami

Top: American Eagle Cape: Forever 21 Pants: Ann Taylor Boots: Sam Edelman Earrings: BaubleBar Necklace: BaubleBar
The past two weeks Miami has finally experienced Fall weather, it has been a solid 50 to 60 degrees, which for us is freezing! The thing about Miami is that in the morning you can be freezing and by noon it is back to 70 degrees and this makes it difficult to decide what to wear in the morning. This poncho has made my mornings a little less stressful when choosing my outfit for the day. This plaid poncho is a bit thicker so it'll keep me warm when Miami mornings are cold and when the afternoon comes along I am able to remove the poncho and enjoy the rest of my day without sweating profusely. Ponchos and capes are huge this season and so is Fall so this poncho allows for you to remain fashionable while still keeping warm.

The rumors are true....

Yes, I too was surprised to be wearing sneakers! I rarely wear sneakers, unless I am going for a run or a park; even to the park I turn to loafers or espadrilles. With sneakers this pretty how could you help but not say yes? The holidays have begun and that means I've been running around buying gifts, learning how to create decorative cookies, and setting holiday parties up so I have abandoned my heels and turned to comfort. When I purchased these sneakers I automatically thought "I can pair these with an all black outfit or a jeans." I would've never thought I would be pairing these sneakers with another patterned piece because I don't feel comfortable mixing prints, but sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone and see what it feels like. If you're like me and are afraid when it comes to mixing prints, my biggest suggestion is try to mix patterns that are in neutral colors so you don't draw too much attention. Go out and experiment with your clothes and who knows you might fall in love with a new outfit that you would've never thought about!

That's so Harry Styles of you

Whenever someone asks what inspires me, my response is always "My surroundings." At a young age my mom and grandma always told me to pay attention to the smaller details that are around me and ever since then I have tried my hardest to let my surroundings inspire me. When I am out, especially people watching I look at people's outfits and try to understand the image, feeling or thought that the person is trying to convey. Due to my constant interest in finding out why someone put an outfit together, their favorite piece, or how their feelings are able to be read through their outfit, I try to put together an outfit that shows how I am feeling that day, and if I am not having the best day, I try to make sure my outfit will lift my spirits.

You're probably wondering what the title of this post has to do with my interest in people's minds and trust me they do relate! If you didn't know, I love One Direction and I honestly believe Harry Styles and I share a mind when it comes to putting our outfits together. For example, the leopard coat he wore in the Steal My Girl music video, the glitter boots, and the hats, just to name a few things. Lately, I have had this interest in wearing menswear-like outfits and of course I had to turn to one of my favorite Brits for inspiration for a new menswear like outfit. I call this my Harry Styles outfit because his favorite pieces are: HATS, boots, skinny jeans and sometimes plaid. For some strange reason I find myself overusing the saying  "that's so Harry Styles of you," and sometimes I feel bad for my friends for dealing with my constant Harry Styles outfit pictures but I guess it comes with the title of being my friend.

Don't let your interest be closed off, I allow everyone and everything around me inspire my outfits because sometimes two or three minds are better than one!

Best in the Bow

Top: Ann Taylor Overalls: Asos Heels: Steve Madden Earrings: BaubleBar Rings: wavy ringcross ring,  Mason ringpearl ring, and bar ring
Every week I come back to my blog and make a list of what to improve for next week and last week I realized that not many of my posts included leopard print and it went away from the name of my blog. I decided that once a week I will post an outfit that incorporates leopard print because I really do believe any outfit can have a touch of leopard. Let me rewind to the beginning and why I decided to name my blog a touch of leopard. I first fell in love with leopard print somewhere between the ages of 12 and 14 and I think I was attracted to the print because it wasn't a print that was worn often. My love for leopard print has only grown more with age and I don't plan on ending my love for leopard anytime soon. Jenna Lyons, J.Crew's President and Executive Creative Director, said in an interview last year that she believes leopard is a neutral and I couldn't agree more! Leopard print can be worn with almost any print and the easiest way to add leopard print to your outfit is by wearing a pair of leopard print shoes!

This outfit was inspired by three things: my new found love for overalls, menswear and from Blair of Atlantic Pacific! A few months ago Blair wore a similar outfit while I was on a mission to find a top with a bow-tie wrapped around the collar and then Ann Taylor decided to add this little beauty to their winter collection and I knew I had to recreate it. Lately I have turned to menswear when getting dressed but I still believe that even menswear can have a feminine twist - like a pair of heels. This outfit is one of my favorites outfits so far! This outfit can also be worn to a holiday party or a holiday dinner event with your girlfriends, wherever it may be overalls can be dressed up!
