Splurge vs. Steal: Rompin' Around

Splurge: Cynthia Rowley Steal: Asos

Today's post was supposed to be an outfit post but unfortunately Miami has been drowning in rain so I had to change my schedule around. Today I'm kicking off a new series called "Splurge vs. Steal," which will showcase a new piece of clothing that is similar or almost similar to a high-end item.

Spring and Summer is among us and garden parties and other events are being scheduled all throughout the world. Sometimes it is way too hot to wear a dress or a pair of pants so choosing to wear a romper to a event is the safest bet. The best thing about this romper is that the lace gives it an elegant feel to the outfit without making you sweat to death. I actually ordered the Steal version of this Cynthia Rowley to wear this summer on a night out in Miami. At the end of this blog post I've also linked a few more steal pieces.

If you wish for me to find a steal piece to a particular splurge item, send me an e-mail or leave the link below in the comments and I will try my hardest.

Black & White

Dress: Asos Sandals: Forever 21 (Splurge version) Clutch: Zara (Similar here and here) Earrings: BaubleBar
This spring and summer it's all about off-the-shoulder clothing pieces and espadrilles. I've recently stocked up on off-the-shoulder tops and dress and of course I had to purchase a striped one. The amazing thing about this dress is that one is able to wear it with everything - as a coverup, paired with sandals, heels, and even the days you don't feel like getting dressed.

Let's take a moment and appreciate these espadrilles. When I came across these sandals I knew I had to have them, especially since they're only $19. Since I love this white pair I ordered a second pair because they look identical to the Vince espadrilles. They're a complete steal and speaking of steals, starting next week I will be starting a new segment on the blog - Splurge vs. Steal. Once a week I will show a new Splurge/Steal item I found and two possible outfits.

Everyone, including my friends, have taken off to the west coast for Coachella and I am stuck here in Miami's 90 degree weather. The heat would be so much tolerable if I were in the desert listening to amazing music. I still have a million outfit ideas running through my head and since it probably is beyond hot, I would've definitely worn something light like this maxi dress. This dress is not only perfect for Coachella but perfect for a summer day in Miami because after all Summer in Miami is hotter than, in the words of Maroon 5, a Southern California day. This outfit also gave me a Greek Goddess feel. Last summer I fell in love with this dress but I couldn't snatch one before my size ran out so I was determined to get my hands on one early. This dress is perfect with a pair of gladiator sandals and also a pair of heeled sandals. So this weekend I will be wearing a few more Coachella inspired outfits and feel complete FOMO, fear of missing out.

Dreaming of the Desert

Dress: Asos Hat: Asos Booties: Sam Edelman Metallic Tattoos: Flash Tattoos Rings: Midi cross ringWavy midi ringCrystal "X" ring, and Crystal bar ring
Coachella kicked off on Friday and I couldn't be more heartbroken. For years I've had a crazy obsession with Coachella and this year made was my third failed attempt of trying to make it out to the west coast and finally experience it. There's something about hanging in the desert for three days that couldn't make me happier. Since last Friday I've felt complete FOMO and I thought it was only right to dedicate this week's outfits to Coachella. If I was off to Coachella I would wear flower crowns and flash tattoos for sure. Coachella is all about releasing your inner hippie - whether that means wearing fringe, piled on jewelry, metallic body tattoos, or flower crowns. I've decided to dedicate this week on the blog to Coachella and all the outfits I would've worn if I was at Coachella.

COOL-ottes

Top: Asos (Similar herehere, and here) Pants: Zara Heels: Zara (Similar herehere, and here) Necklace: BaubleBar (also avail. here) Purse: Saint Laurent
When it comes to culottes there's a very fine line between cute and mom pants. I've tried on over a dozen different pairs of culottes looking for a pair that didn't look like I had stolen my grandma's pants but thankfully Zara decided to answer my prayers. Last Summer I began the hunt for the perfect pair but I quickly realized  I started too late so this year I became determined to hunt them down early and enjoy them all Summer long. This Spring and Summer wide leg pants are a huge deal and although I may not be 100% crazy about them because I feel like I look a foot smaller than I really am, I feel like culottes is a great medium between wide leg pants and regular pants. Culottes are perfect for those warmer days where you need to wear pants but can't see yourself wearing a pair of jeans.

I wore this outfit to Easter lunch with my family and I couldn't be more comfortable. I plan to wear these with gladiator sandals, a plaid button down and a pair of wedges. Culottes are so fast fashion that I can't see myself paying so much for them because after Summer is over, back into storage they go. Since I plan on scoring my culottes on a major steal. How are you planing to wear your culottes?
